This was the single largest piece of pure art I ever worked on. It’s 8.5 ft. by about 4.5 ft., carved pine on a background of long pine boards. The entire piece, except the mirror, is made from pine, which is interesting for a piece dealing with what the Founding Fathers created in Philadelphia, a stone’s throw from the Pine Barons. The boarders are about three inches thick and 6 inches deep. The symbolic iconographic constitution in the center is carved from 3 pine boards, and is continuous the whole length down, except for cut out pieces. This piece I completed in 2008, right around the time Barrack Obama was making his bid for President. It is a totemic, symbolic, and iconographic sculptural image of the Constitution of the United States of America, a defining issue in the new millennium.
